Geoffrey Hynes, BSc
Senior Regulatory Toxicologist
Geoff graduated from the University of Hertfordshire in 1996 whilst working at Glaxo pharmaceuticals (GlaxoSmithKline) in the Genetic Toxicology department. He gained 19 years experience working in a GLP environment, was Study Director for all the OECD regulatory in vitro/vivo studies, the GSK expert for the single laser flow cytometric rat/mouse micronucleus test and the in vitro/vivo Comet assay. From 2005 to 2009, Geoff was the Head of In Vivo Genetic Toxicology at Huntingdon Life Sciences leading the incorporation of the micronucleus and comet assays into the repeated dose toxicity studies. In 2009 he joined the fragrance and flavours global leader Givaudan based in the UK. He was the REACH toxicologist preparing all dossiers in IUCLID and the risk assessments in CHESAR. He was also a core team member for the Research Institute for Fragrance Materials (RIFM) in genetic toxicology, repeated dose/reproductive toxicity and computational toxicity. Geoff presented at ECHA (2011) on the OECD [Q]SAR Toolbox and the challenges industry faced with regard to technical/practical improvements, IT importation issues and performance. In 2018, at the end of the REACH project, Geoff joined RB where he was the Head of Aircare (UK), Surface Care (US) and GHS (UK/India). In 2020 he joined The No.7 Beauty Company as Lead Toxicologist and expert in fragrance, cosmetics, GHS and Safety Data Sheets. Geoff then joined Exponent consultancy in 2021 as Genetic Toxicology, skin sensitisation, skin/eye irritancy expert where he also gained experience in the Biocides and Plant Protection Products regulations, dossier preparation and the impacts of endocrine disruption on industry with regard to active substances and finished products.
Geoff has joined Arrow Regulatory in April 2024 as a Senior Regulatory Toxicologist.
